Students graduating from the Mechanical Enginieering, B.S.E. program will be able to…

  • apply knowledge of mathematics, science and engineering.
  • design and conduct experiments, as well as to analyze and interpret data.
  • design a system, component, or process to meet desired needs with realistic constraints such as economic, environmental, social, political, ethical, health and safety, manufacturability and sustainability.
  • identify, formulate and solve engineering problems.
  • recognize of the need for, and an ability to engage in, life-long learning.
  • demonstrate a knowledge of contemporary issues.
  • use the techniques, skills and modern engineering tools necessary for engineering practice.
  • demonstrate knowledge of chemistry and calculus-based physics.
  • apply advanced mathematics through multivariate calculus and differential equations.
  • apply statistics and linear algebra.
  • work professionally in both thermal and mechanical systems areas including the design and realization of such systems.
  • understand professional and ethical responsibility.
  • function on multi-disciplinary teams.
  • communicate effectively.
  • demonstrate a broad education necessary to understand the impact of engineering solutions in a global, economic, environmental and social context.
